Fridays are for fun

I was waiting for an appointment yesterday and overheard some conversation that reminded me Christmas was three weeks away. Oh my goodness. Really? How did this happen? How is it already one week into December? Dear 2012, you have officially flown by...And this week flew by:

*Celebrated my sister's birthday last weekend. She is such a brave person and a hero to me in so many ways. She loves God and that just pours out of her and the way she cares for others. So blessed to call her a friend. Cheers to celebrating Marissa!

*In true celebration style, we drank Starbucks, ate chick-fil-a, went to Nordstrom Rack and feasted on cake . Cheers to Birthdays!

*Attended the Chico State Men's Basktball games, twice this week. We love it; takes us back to our college days, when Kenny played. I was a true groupie :)

*Managed to weather the storm last weekend without any power outages or flooding in our house. The only thing lost, was a few hours of sleep.

*Kenny taught at church on Sunday;  three services, and he's amazing. Pretty sure I get more nervous than him. Kenny is truly a leader -- and I am so thankful for him.

*Went to home depot for a curtain rod, came home with a mirror. How does this happen?

*Hung out with good friends this week. Had good conversations. Shared life together. This is the best.

*In an effort to fight off a cold, I am drinking way too much EmergenC.

*Ordered and received our Christmas cards. Now the hard part really begins; addressing them and getting them out. Here's to my goal of having this done in the next three days.

*As you may have already guessed, I am feeling a bit behind in my preparations for Christmas.

*Oh yes, and somehow, Netflix suckered us into watching Prison Break. Why oh why would we ever begin such a thing, and especially right now? Here's to a bad choice, but being too many many episodes in to stop watching.

And even though Christmas has snuck up on us, I am just so excited to celebrate with family and friends. What a beautiful season of hope.

Much Love friends! K and K

And just over a week ago, we managed to go Christmas tree hunting with the entire family.

Featured

We have been really blessed this year to have some of our work featured in different places. And we give all the credit to our amazing couples. We are so honored  to work with the beautiful people and capture their powerful wedding stories.

Eric and Jill's beautiful Napa wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty just this month.

Ben and Lauren's sweet backyard wedding was featured in DIY Bride this fall as well.

Luke and Crystal's rustic wedding was featured in Wedding Row California and the Wedding Wire Blog.  Such beautiful details thanks to the work of M Creations.

Again, we could not do it without our amazing clients. You are all so special to us and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

love is a powerful thing...

We watched this last night, for the first time, in quite awhile. And I think it was good timing. Because even though this video is about our story, it reminds us that we really get to be a part of capturing history: Some of the biggest moments in a person's life.

So we wanted to share our story with you again because it is a big part of our brand. And it is a big part of our brand because it is truly what we believe.

We know that love changes people. Never is a person loved, and left unmoved.

And so our work is not just a way of making a living. It is not just a profession. And it is not about us at all.  It is about you. And this work is something that we feel passionate about, because we are documenting the kind of things that matter most in life. Your stories are powerful.

Much love and gratitude for letting your life be changed and inspiring us in the process, K and K

Bidwell Park Family Session: Ian and Ashley and James

I met Ashley a couple years ago. She is super talented -- I really do appreciate her so much. She is the owner of The Powder Room, downtown and just among the nicest people you will ever meet. Her and Ian always make us feel so at home. They are the kind of people that we love having in our life.

We did an early morning session a couple weeks ago and I wanted to share a few of their photos. Their son James, is just so cute. They love the park and James loves his bike. Which Kenny and I both agreed, is one of the coolest bikes we have ever seen.

Thank you so much Ian and Ashley. We love you guys and can't wait for baby number two to arrive :) Much Love friends! K and K

Isn't James so cute? Not a care in the world...

I just love these two! They are such good parents and amazing people :)

Back in the Office with some great memories in our pocket

If you are wondering what we were up to for Thanksgiving, mostly this: Time with family and cuddling our sweet nephews and nieces. Its so easy to take family for granted, but when you only see them once or twice a year, you just have to stop and soak up each moment. And that's what we tried to do.

So here's to a busy week back in the office with a lot of editing and catch up. Putting work on hold for these amazing moments -- we wouldn't trade it for the world.

Oh yes, and in case you are wondering, we did eat some amazing food for Thanksgiving. It's the one time a year that I try to be domestic :)

And this is our newest member of the "Jones" family: Sweet Callahan. Isn't he amazing?

Happy Thanksgiving

Well the family has landed and on their way to Chico as I write this. This Thanksgiving, Kenny and I are so grateful.

Grateful to have each other. Grateful for our families.

We feel blessed. Blessed to work with so many amazing people. Blessed to see crazy things happen, as we trust God with our life.

We realize that every day is a gift. And we never want to take that for granted.

And so we are thankful. Thankful for the little things like chai tea and a warm bed. Thankful for the huge things like the God's incredible love and grace. We are spoiled. And don't deserve any of this.

So as we turn off our work to spend time with family, we just want to say thank you. To our clients and friends, thank you for pouring into our lives. We don't deserve any of this.

Happy Thanksgiving! Much, much Love,

K and K

Chico Engagement Photos: Kevin and Katy

We first met Katy at Starbucks. She was an instant friend -- the kind of person who doesn't let life get the best of her. She exudes joy. And when we met Kevin, we felt the same way. He is easy going, and just another one of the nicest people that you will ever meet. I am so thankful to know them. And when they asked us to photograph their wedding, we definitely did the happy dance. That's how we feel about all our clients and that's definitely how we feel about Kevin and Katy. We couldn't be more honored or excited to be a part of their lives. Thank you both for serving people around you so well.

We cannot wait to celebrate with you next fall! Much Love friends! K and K

Yes, you are going to love them too :)

Fridays are for Fun

In the last two weeks we have done a lot. More than we probably knew was on our plate. And so this poor little blog has been a bit neglected. But I am ok with that. Today, I thought I would write a quick Friday update. I am currently people watching as I wait in line for a mandatory drug test that I have to take. I'm pretending to be totally into this blog, but am getting a little distracted. The things you hear in waiting rooms :)

We took a big trip to Ikea this week. Lesson learned. Don't go to Ikea hungry. When you go into a store like that, you really need to bring a snack. Unless, of course, you like swedish meatballs :)

Came home with a few treasures -- so excited to start getting this home all cozy for the holidays!

And today, Starbucks is offering buy one holiday drink, get one free. I will definitely be partaking in this.

For those of you wondering, my bangs are still now grown out and I am starting to doubt whether this awkward hair stage will ever end.

And I have been working so hard to finish up a ton of editing before Thanksgiving. I can hardly wait to have my whole family here. SO much to look forward to. Gosh, I am really blessed.

We are finishing up the 2012 wedding season tomorrow! I can't believe it. It has been a whirlwind with twenty four weddings in five months. We are SO thankful for all of the beautiful stories that we have gotten to capture. What a cool year!!

Have a great weekend friends!

And this is a photo captured yesterday. Love these two. They are beautiful people!

Napa Wedding: Eric and Jill

Oh my goodness, I am so excited to share this wedding with you. And we have been super blessed to have this wedding featured on Style Me Pretty today. Eric and Jill were married at the Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa this summer. The weather gave us everything on their wedding day --Sunshine, rain and storm clouds. All of it making for a beautiful wedding day.

Jill and Eric met in high school and so you can imagine that they have lots of memories and growing up that they have done together. So many friends and family gathered around them to celebrate. And as they celebrated, Eric and Jill spent a lot of their time serving their guests. These two are so thoughtful. They are super kind. I don't know how many times Jill said thank you to us. Are you kidding, please let us thank you :) That is the kind of people that they both are -- super sweet and grateful and world changers :)

We couldn't be more honored to have captured their wedding day. Thank you Eric and Jill. Thank you for being so kind and generous. Thank you for letting everyone feel so loved. You are beautiful people and I have a feeling this world will be changed because of you.

Much Love and gratitude, K and K

Jill, you are so beautiful...

The ceremony was held on the lawn of the eighteenth hole.

Many thanks to Seasons Floral for their beautiful designs.

Chardonnay is an expansive course with absolutely stunning views.

And the reception was held inside a tent on the grounds. Again, a stunning setting for a really great reception.

This was one good dance party :)

Cheers to Eric and Jill! Much Love you two!

Bidwell Park Wedding: Kevin and Denise

Kevin and Denise were married on a beautiful fall day here in Chico. Seriously, I love fall. It's my new favorite season here in Chico and it's my new favorite wedding season too :) We met Kevin and Denise last year and felt extremely honored that they would ask us to be a part of their wedding day. They are both very sweet people, with quiet spirits. They complement each other so well and it was a very special weddding day.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day, came during the ceremony. As Denise walked down the aisle towards Kevin, both Kevin and his daughter cried in unison. Together, everyone was full of emotion and joy at this beautiful moment. It is times like these where we continue to stand in awe of what we get to do.

So, thank you Kevin and Denise. Thank you for choosing to work with us, for trusting us to be a part of your wedding day. We are blessed to know you. Much Love, K and K

The ceremony was held at the Bidwell Ampitheater next to the creek. Among my favorite moments...

These two are just perfect together.

Of course, our work is never done: As we crossed the crosswalk to get to the Arroyo room, I made this a photo op. We owe our clients big time, for doing crazy things in crosswalks as people stare from their cars. Thank you so much Kevin and Denise!

The reception was held at the Arroyo Room in downtown Chico

While Denise danced with her Dad, Kevin and his daughter, Taylor shared a beautiful dance too. Such amazing families!

Cheers to a beautiful evening...

We all need a little sugar every once in awhile...

Happy Halloween friends! I am not sure if I am more excited about handing out treats to the little kiddos tonight or the fact that I will get to eat the leftovers. Either way, I made sure to buy Reeses and maybe some gummy bears too... And because Halloween is basically about sugar consumption, I had to share these few photos of Carsten enjoying his first lollipop. Isn't he the cutest?

Have a fun evening. Don't eat too much candy, although we probably will... and don't forget to brush your teeth :)

Ezra

Words. They are so powerful and have the ability to change our lives.

And then there are names, the kind of words that when you hear them, you remember someone's story; a legacy that will be etched in your mind forever.

And that's how I feel about the name, Ezra.

We photographed Tim and Michelle last month. They are so sweet. Joy and kindness and love oozes from their souls. When we photographed them, they were expecting their first child, a little boy.

And just like that, their lives were changed forever.

Ezra came into this world, stillborn, two weeks ago. I still want to cry as I write this because it is so sad: I just can't imagine walking through this, as they are. And yet, I want to write this, because Ezra's life was not in vain. I want Tim and Michelle to know that their son has made a huge difference in this world. Their pain is not wasted in any way, at all.

Just like his little name means "help", Ezra has helped us. He has helped us remember that life is short, that nothing is guaranteed. His story tells us that what we do with today, how we spend our time, matters. It matters a lot. We live in the illusion of comfort and stability, yet at any moment our lives could change.

And so we are called to live with, and for a purpose. Just like Ezra.

At the end of the day, all of our lives will point to something. Ezra's tiny little frame and perfect story brought attention to the God of the Universe. It brought attention to the only thing that matters.

Thank you Ezra, for leaving a legacy that points to something so much bigger than yourself. Thank you Tim and Michelle for being used by God. In the midst of incredible heartache, you are making a difference in this world. Please know that.

Ezra, your name will never be forgotten. Every time we hear it, we will be reminded of you. We will remember that each day, God's glory is at stake and so there is no time to waste.

We love you Tim, Michelle and baby Ezra.

Downtown Chico Wedding: Rob and Jessica

Rob and Jessica were married on a gorgeous fall day here in Chico. And being a part of their wedding was such an honor for us. Their style translated into a formal, yet really personal wedding day, where family and friends from many different parts of the country came to celebrate. Jessica is a very ambitious and sweet person. Rob is the kind of guy who makes you feel welcome -- he is just really nice. And you can tell that they really love each other. They are good friends -- and they have a lot in common. It was so much fun to hear stories about their life together on the East Coast.

Thank you to both families for inviting us in and letting us be a part of this wedding. We were blessed to watch the day unfold alongside all of you.

Thank you to Rob and Jessica for calling us friends. We are so appreciative of you both and we can hardly wait to see where all of your talent will take the both of you! Much Love Friends, K and K

Jess, you are gorgeous...

The ceremony was held at The United Methodist Church in downtown Chico

And their expressions were like this all day long... So happy!

They had a great grand exit from the church -- with bells ringing and people shouting :)

Loved photographing these two. They are both beautiful people and so photogenic!

One of my favorites...

Loved that they used this historic car from Hotel Diamond.

The reception was held at Chico Event Center.... Once again, Cambray Rose did not disappoint with her beautiful floral design.

At the end of the evening, the families had put together a beautiful slideshow for everyone...
