Fridays are for Fun

Well our life has been absolutely flying by. The days turn into weeks and before we know it, September is halfway over. Truly, we are so blessed, but I would be lying if I didn't say we are a little tired.  In the last couple weeks, we have had some great adventures. *Stayed in Portland for less than 48 hours. It was definitely a work trip, but that's not to say we didn't enjoy the wonderful Northwest. Seventy degrees never felt better.

*Stayed in San Francisco last weekend for a little bit of work and a lot of fun.

*Saw that once again I am not a good "packer". Even though I check the forecast, I am either too warm or not warm enough. Perhaps one day I will get this right.

*Attended the Dave Matthews Concert thanks to our brother, Allen. While Dave is an incredible artist, I was really there to see Allen open up the show. Dear Allen, you are amazing. The end.

*Bought Kenny some skinny jeans. Um. yes, I did just say that. We are nearly hispsters, well, almost.

*And I think all the traveling and craziness may have thrown off my sleep schedule. There was a good week and a half, where I simply could not sleep well at night. Let's be honest, by the sixth night I took some time to look up "Insomnia" on the world wide web, because I was certain something was wrong.

*Turns out, it may have been stress and sugar induced. No more Cinnamon Toast Crunch late at night. This girl needs her sleep.

*In the middle of our travels, my Mom came for a quick trip to Chico. Now, this is always a treat. My mom, she is just the best!

*Oh yes, and I tasted my first pumpkin spice latte of the season. So good! Thank you Starbucks.

Well we are excited for this weekend! We have six more weddings this year and we are looking forward to be celebrating with Megan and Jarrett tomorrow. Happy Friday to all of you!

Cheers! K and K

Oh yes, and we had the chance to photograph Lauren last night for her senior session. Isn't she SO pretty?

A DIY Chico Wedding: Mitch and Amanda

Amanda and Mitch are down to earth people. The kind of people who think of others first. They have known each other for years and together, watched many of their siblings and close friends get married: Unsure when their turn may come. This last fall, Mitch totally surprised Amanda by asking her to marry him while they were visiting friends near Seattle. Amanda was so excited! And together, they started planning a fun wedding, centered around the people that mean so much to them.

And you could tell, people love them. The wedding day was about the people. It was about celebrating and enjoying each moment, as it unfolded. Their were so many details, most of them handmade by Amanda that gave the day a very personal feeling.

And we were honored to capture that. We loved seeing how happy Mitch and Amanda are; how much they adore each other. We loved capturing their friends and family. And at the end of the day, we know we are blessed to be a part of another really special wedding day.

Congratulations Mitch and Amanda. So excited for what lies ahead. You are wonderful, wonderful people.

Much Love, K and K

And let's just say, wearing a pair of TOMS on your wedding day -- now, that's a good start to a long day :)

Mitch gave Amanda this gift before the ceremony...

The details that were put into the ceremony were brilliant. The flower work designed by Pam at Cambray Rose Florist.

Love this shot of the flower girls.

Married...

Amanda had been working on the details for months. Seriously, so much of the details were handmade by Amanda.

We took a few more photos right before the party began :)

Loved the toasts and first dance... Definitely a tear running down her cheek...

Such a fun party!

Many thanks to the Palms Venue for providing the backdrop for this wedding day.

San Francisco Engagement: Jon and Jessica Tease...

I still don't know why we get to work with the sweetest people? It is so much fun! We loved meeting Jon and Jessica this weekend in San Francisco. I don't think that our clients realize how blessed we feel that they would choose to work with us.

Thank you so much you two! We can't wait to finish the rest of your photos...

Jessica, you are gorgeous!

Downtown Lake Oswego Portraits

Before we flew out of Portland on Tuesday, we had the chance to work with some great people. It made me miss Oregon, that's for sure. So glad we can stay in touch with our friends and clients up north. We are totally blessed to work with so many people along the west coast :) I have a lot of editing ahead of me in the coming weeks, but wanted to share just a look into a couple of these sessions:

Tim and Michelle are amazing people -- really, the kind of people who are making a BIG difference in this world. Working with them on Tuesday was totally an honor for us.

Thank you so much Tim and Michelle! K and K

And Michelle, you are full of joy! Love this about you :)

We also worked with Kate on Tuesday. She is such a sweet girl. A senior at West Linn High School. Can't wait to share more from her session soon.

Thanks so much Kate! K and K

Happy Friday friends! We are headed to San Francisco for an engagement session this weekend and then we can't wait to be at the Dave Matthews Concert and see our brother open the show. SO amazing!!!

Columbia River Wedding: Dante and Brittany Tease...

On Monday, we had the honor of photographing Dante and Brittany. They were married in a beautiful setting along the Columbia River. I would say, these two are sweet. They are kind and they are loved well by the people around them. So glad to have made the trek to Portland and thankful to have captured their love. Please say hi to Kauai for us, friends! Congratulations you two!

A Chico Wedding: Alex and Alicia Tease...

I know for some of you, the weekend may seem long gone, but for us, our weekend ended late last night after arriving home from Portland after a whirlwind of a weekend. I would say I may be a bit delirious today, but not without a very thankful heart. We started the weekend on Sunday photographing Alex and Alicia here in Chico. I haven't even begun to sort through all of our work, but LOVE these frames because their excitement is just contagious! Thank you so much Alex and Alicia! You two are wonderful people!

Fridays are for Fun

Well this is my official, "boo" to colds, especially in the summer, post :) Really, shouldn't it be a rule, "no colds allowed", when the weather is over eighty degrees? I mean, how silly do I feel, holding a tissue in one hand and ice water in the other.

Along with this, Kenny has had some pretty bad allergies this week -- meaning both our noses look like Rudolph, not to mention our puffy eyes...

Also, I am wondering how I got this cold, as I tend to be a hermit during the week, with all of my editing. I think I blame the gym on this one.

However, there were some upsides to catching a cold: Since I couldn't really taste anything, I would say it was a good week for my cooking. I had an excuse to lay low for a little bit, which gave my eyes a much needed break from editing. Along with this, I had the chance to catch up on some Cooking Channel Reality TV (Yes, I do watch an episode of Chopped from time to time). And let's be honest, this also gave me the excuse to sit in my sweats all day long and sleep in this morning. That was amazing! Finally, I moved a lot slower than normal, which is probably good for my life, since I tend to powerwalk everywhere.

Now, I am not recommending a summer cold, to anyone. But it did change the pace of my life this week, giving me the time to reflect and remember what is really important. We can get so busy and I am thankful for the deep breaths, and the time to see all the things that God is doing in our lives right now.

On a final note, this cold must go away :) We have two weddings this weekend -- one in Chico and then on to Portland for the second. So excited to celebrate marriage with both of these couples.

Have a great weekend friends! Try not to catch a cold, because really, it is not that cool. I promise. K

And because I still have not gotten around to posting our Kauai pics, here is just one for now... I'm pretty sure colds don't exist in Kauai :)

Chico Vintage Backyard Wedding: Anders and Ashley

Every once in awhile, you get the chance to photograph friends and that is one of my favorite things in the world. Now don't get me wrong, we LOVE all the weddings that we photograph, but there is something special about knowing a family well and being invited into their day, like we were with this wedding. To say we were honored, is an understatement. The Lundbergs are our friends. They were some of the first people that we met when we moved here and they have become like family to us. Embracing the good and the bad sides of us -- they love us well. Getting the privilege to photograph Anders and Ashley's wedding meant that perhaps we could serve them, because they tirelessly serve others ALL the time.

The wedding was held at the Shaffer Ranch, in North Chico. The day had a rustic, down to earth feel. And Anders and Ashley, well, they were just stunning. They were so happy to be getting married; so happy to walk back down the aisle as husband and wife, surrounded by 300 of their family and friends. I would say, the day was incredible.

Thank you Anders and Ashley. Thank you for letting us be there -- for being vulnerable and giving us the opportunity to photograph that. Thank you for being you. For being the kind of people that God can use to change this world. I know that you will have the opportunity to be even stronger, together. I just can't wait to see what God does through your marriage.

And thank you to the Lundbergs. Sometimes I don't know what to say, but thank you. Thank you for changing our lives; for the better.

Much, much Love to our friends and to people that we call family. We are so grateful not only to have been at your wedding, but to relive the moments here. And a huge congratulations to Anders and Ashley. This is just the beginning of something great!

These two decided to see one another before the wedding -- and I am so glad that they did!

It was a very large and beautiful bridal party... Loved the details from the girls...

Ashley put on her veil right before the wedding. She is stunning...

The ceremony was held on the lawn at the Ranch. Aren't they so happy?

Moments after the wedding...

So excited to be married :)

There were some very special moments exchanged between family members, who we just love so much!

Such a cute flower girl...

We had the opportunity to take a few more photos afterward... Loved the mustang and the light :)

And, it's reception time :)

Ashley envisioned very simple decor, but wait till you see some of these little details... A homemade italian soda bar? Yes please :) An actual mailbox for the cards. Such a good idea... Salt Water Taffy on each table... with burlap and lace.

The floral design was beautiful work done by Alli Leduc.

Some sweet dances between family members...

A photobooth can provide some great photos for us too :) And just a few of the many candids taken during the dance party :)

Such a fun sparkler send off -- and dont you love this last frame? Cheers to an amazing wedding day!

Fridays are for Fun

Well I can hardly believe I am writing another Fridays are For Fun blog post. It has been such a quick week: *Currently writing this post on Thursday evening, simply because my to-do list is that long :)

*Rode my bike for the first time this summer: I know, that may seem crazy, but if you saw my "hot-pink" bike from my teenage years, you will know why I only ride it once a year, and only at dusk. It might be time to get a new bike...

*Babysat little Carsten while my sister went to the dentist. She came home "cavity-free" and so we celebrated with a trip to Starbucks :)

*Watched The Hunger Games with Kenny last night. Oh.my. The plot of the book still kind of disturbs me, but I would have to say, I hardly blinked watching the movie. It was that good.

*Ate some popcorn with marshmallows while watching the movie. Yes. I did just say that and I did eat both of those things, together, at the same time.

*In denial that summer is over. I grew up in the Northwest, where Labor day weekend marked the final days of summer break. California, you may have gotten this one wrong...

*And as summer comes to a close, we both feel very grateful for all the opportunities and ways we have grown during this season.

*Like always, we are dreaming of the day that we will get back to the beach, Cannon Beach.

*Speaking of Cannon Beach, here is a fun set of photos taken right there. And yes, Kenny is definitely way nicer than me, as seen below. And yes, we still love each other a ton!

Oh dear, have a great weekend, friends! We are so excited to photograph Mitch and Amanda's wedding this weekend. Kenny will also be teaching at church on Sunday -- you are all invited :) We'd love to see you there!

Chico Wedding Photographers: Ashley

Ashley, you are beautiful. And when you arrived for your bridal session, before the day of your wedding, I knew that a lot was whirling through your mind. In just two weeks, you would marry Anders. Your life would be forever changed. And while your life changed on Saturday, you didn't.

You will always know the love of Christ, which has made you even more beautiful. You will always be generous; with your time, your money and your life. Your laugh will always be contagious. Your loyalty will never change. You will always make a difference in this world, whether you know it or not. Your compassion will always be a part of who you are. You will keep wearing you heart on your sleeve, And smile, even when it is hard. You will keep serving people well, and making anyone you know, feel like a friend.

And, you will always be loved.

So grateful to get a chance to photograph you before your wedding day and then again last Saturday as you married Anders. It was an amazing day.

Thank you so much Ashley! Much Love, K

Is she stunning, or what?

Such a fun session!

Canyon Oaks Country Club Wedding: Josh and Megan

Sometimes, love just radiates from a person. And this was definitely the case for Josh and Megan. They adore each other so much. They love well. And we were absolutely blessed to share in their wedding day. The day was held at Canyon Oaks Country Club, here in Chico. And while it may have been one of the warmest days of the year, we hardly noticed, because we really do love our job. Megan looked so pretty in her dress, and both of them were just giddy with excitement to see each other and get married.

And it is days like this, that make us stop and realize how thankful we are for marriage. Marriage is a beautiful thing and these two showed that well.

Thank you Josh and Megan for inspiring us with your friendship and love. We are SO blessed to know you -- SO thankful to have been invited into your day. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Much Love, K and K

Megan's Mom was so kind to us... Loved working with both of their families.

Josh, read this note from Megan right before seeing her for the first time that day...

Megan, you are a beautiful person, inside and out.

Their first look was so sweet. Can you tell they adore each other?

There were so many portraits, these are just some of our favorites...

The ceremony was held on the lawn of Canyon Oaks Country Club...

As Josh and Megan were walking back down the aisle, Megan stopped to hug her Dad....

Loved these few captured right after the ceremony.

They had some beautiful decor -- inspired by the color purple :)

Upper Crust created this beautiful cake.

The evening held a plated dinner with lots of laughter and toasts, and some special dancing...

I'll end here, because who doesn't love seeing Grandma on the dance floor?

Chico Wedding Photographers: Anders and Ashley Tease...

Our hearts are full. We got to share in this wedding day yesterday; a day filled with so many people that we are blessed to call friends. Thank you Anders and Ashley. Thank you to your family and friends who we love so much. Have the best time ever in Maui! We can't wait to share more photos soon... And as for today, we are resting from a very full weekend. So grateful for Monday's off with the best hubby a girl could ask for :) K

Fridays are For Fun

I think you might be able to tell by my blog posts, Kenny and I are definitely waist deep in life right now. Between ministry and weddings, we are running hard, but we are running together and feel so grateful for everything. And as for this week... *Ate Papa Murphy's Pizza last night for dinner. It was either that, or salad for the fourth night in a row... Poor Kenny, one of these days I will become a better cook. For now, if anyone would like to become our personal chef, we are totally up for it :)

*Had such a great day off on Monday. Mondays are my favorite day of the week; LOVE quality time with Kenny.

*Worked out every day this week: Only because my head gets a little fuzzy after editing photos for hours and hours. Nothing like a good run, to wake up my brain :)

*Worked out next to a friend on Wednesday, and my workout was SO much better. Seriously, I must start going to the gym with friends.

*In an attempt to save money, I tried my hardest not to use the air conditioning in our house. This lasted about five minutes, but was quite a valiant effort.

*Had such an encouraging phone conversation with my friend, Katie. Love her!

*Trying not to listen to "Call Me Maybe" more than once a day. Yes, I am a sucker for pop music, always have been, probably always will be: Please, no judging.

*Fighting the urge to do some "back to school" shopping. Seven years out of school, and I still find myself looking at Target's back to school ads.

*Oh yes, and this little man has been gone to Spokane for the last six days and I am now going through withdrawals: Carsten (and sister, too), please come back soon.

We are getting ready for a full weekend. On Saturday, we will be at the Chico Wedding Weekend. Please come, we would love to see you! And then on Sunday, we get the honor of photographing some of our favorite people ever. Ashley and Anders are getting married :) So, So excited!

Happy Friday to all of you! K and K

Chico Wedding Photographers: Wordless Wednesday

Our weekends are filled with weddings -- precious moments that we freeze in time and I am so, so blessed to do this. And while our life is very full, you have probably noticed that our blog is not. Mostly because real life is happening all around us and we don't want to miss a moment. So check in with our Facebook page, as often as you want -- we tend to post photos here and maybe even tell you a bit about our daily adventures :)

And because this might be one of my favorite photos of all time, I'll leave you with this frame, captured at Josh and Megan's wedding on Saturday...

Expecting: Emily

I had the opportunity to work with the stunning Emily tonight... She is so pretty and will be such an amazing Mom. The cool thing is, Emily is a photographer here in Chico as well. Love meeting other photographers and having the opportunity to be inspired by who she is and what she is doing for this industry. She is truly wonderful! So blessed to know you, Emily and Noah. Thank you for letting me capture this season of your lives... K

Emily, you are gorgeous...

And Noah, well, he is such a trooper to work with me and my craziness. These two will be such great parents!

Chico Wedding Photographer: Ben and Lauren

We first met Ben and Lauren at a wedding in January. Both of them seemed like the kindest people. At that time, I don't think we even knew they were a couple. But, because of Facebook, which makes us all feel like friends, we were able to connect. They got engaged this spring and when they asked us to photograph their wedding, let's just say, we may have done the happy dance. After meeting them and hearing their story, we just knew this would be a special day. Lauren is sweet. She is a little bit shy, but loves people well. Ben is outgoing and has a gift for making people feel comfortable. And together, they are that much stronger. And, people love them! This was so evident at their wedding. The wedding was held at a private residence in North Chico. It was a beautiful wedding day, filled with the kind of people that make your life richer.

Ben and Lauren, thank you for letting us get to know you. It has been an honor to be a part of your wedding day. Looking back, I just know people will remember the way you love each other. You guys are leaving a legacy.

Much Love, K and K

All the girls were just the sweetest...

Lauren, you are beautiful...

We met Ben at the location of the first look, and captured a few shots here...

And in case you didn't know just how much they love each other... Their first look proves it.

We were able to take quite a few portraits before the wedding ceremony...

Kenny's view...

You are going to love this bridal party...

Each bridesmaid chose their own jewelery and it was all gorgeous...

Fans were provided for the guests for the side lawn ceremony.

Lauren kept with a very simple, yet sweet theme for her wedding decor.

We had the opportunity to capture Ben and Lauren again before the party began...

One of my favorites...

You two are just awesome.... what more can we say?

The things that boys do to catch the garter... Loved this!

Cheers to an amazing wedding night and a beautiful sunset as we finished our work :)
