Chico Fall Engagement Session: Sam and Sara

These two work hard. And by work hard, I mean nonstop, with the kind of ambition that inspires us all.

They met in law school, and bonded over exams and late night study sessions. They both graduated this past spring and when Sam asked Sara the most important question of his life, she definitely said yes.

We got to skype with them for their consult, where Kenny and Sam immediately bonded over Monday night football. And when they traveled to Chico, Sara's hometown, we were able to meet up for their engagement session. It was a beautiful fall day and we just loved getting to know them better. Really, they are amazing people. They are smarter than we will ever be, and just among the kindest and most generous people. We are so thankful to know them.

Thank you so much Sam and Sara. You are both so talented and tenacious. We look forward to celebrating with you this summmer :)

We first met Katy at Starbucks. She was an instant friend -- the kind of person who doesn't let life get the best of her. She exudes joy. And when we met Kevin, we felt the same way. He is easy going, and just another one of the nicest people that you will ever meet. I am so thankful to know them. And when they asked us to photograph their wedding, we definitely did the happy dance. That's how we feel about all our clients and that's definitely how we feel about Kevin and Katy. We couldn't be more honored or excited to be a part of their lives. Thank you both for serving people around you so well.

San Francisco Engagement: jon and jessica

We have gotten so many amazing opportunities this year. We've worked with great people -- We really do walk away from every session, hoping that we have blessed our clients in some way, because they have blessed us more. No doubt. And that's how we feel about Jon and Jessica. We were able to squeeze in their engagement session on a recent trip to the City -- and what a treat for us. They took us to some different places -- places that will forever hold memories for them. Places like their favorite restaurant, neighboorhoods and beaches along the bay. And with each location, there were stories. And our hope -- that their stories will be stronger memories because of these photos.

Jon and Jessica, we are so excited for you. I think it is safe to say, you have a lot of gifts and you are making a difference in this world. Clearly, you love well and are loved by so many.

Josh and Megan are the kind of people that you want as your friends. From the minute we met them, laughed with them, and heard their story, we knew we liked them. They found each other in college, and became best friends almost instantly. They are such a good fit for each other. Josh is outgoing and full of energy, while Megan is so kind and a little bit quieter. And together, they are some of the most encouraging people we know. They make the people around them feel so loved, believe me, we know :) And I love the way they look at each other. The way they laugh together and they way they love each other.

What's Really Important

I keep telling myself, it won't always be this way. But at the end of the day, I have to make a choice. Work will always beckon me. Whatever it is, there will always be one or one hundred more things to do. And yet work is not the point of my life. It doesn't define me. and every day no matter how hard I work, there will always be more. So I guess today's blog post is a reminder to myself to never forget what is really important in life.

Kenny attended a funeral today. The man was a husband, a dad to teenagers. He loved God and his story is just beginning. And its true for me too. This is just a glimpse of eternity. I am living for so much more than what I do. The bigger picture, brings me out of the piles of "to do" lists. I want to know that at the end of my life, I listened to God and followed Him to the best of my ability. That's all.

So there's a few of my thoughts -- my motivational speech to myself :) I don't want to be known for my work. I want to be known for my God, the miracle worker and best thing that ever happened to me.

I hope some of this resonates with you today.

Maybe it is our shared love for Starbucks, or the fact that Leon and Kenny could talk about espn all day long; whatever it is, we feel like these two could be long lost friends :) Leon and Maritza are both the nicest of people. They love to laugh and they make us laugh -- and we could listen to their stories for hours. It is people like these two, who make our job SO great. I just have to say that when they chose us to photograph their wedding next month, we could have hugged them! That is how excited and honored we are to tell a bit of their story.

Perhaps it is that they seem like they are best friends and we can relate to that. Perhaps it is because they are some of the nicest people we know. This blog post comes with a lot of love from Kenny and I. You see, Anders is the son of one of our closest friends here in Chico. Seriously, his parents are among the BIGGEST blessings to us since moving to Chico. Talk about the kind of people who change your life -- We LOVE their family. And then, there is these two, together: Anders and Ashley. Both of them amazingly gifted in different ways. Ashley is a servant to the core -- always helping people, loving people and so compassionate. Anders is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is generous and loves people well. You better watch out Chico -- these two are world changers!

We are so honored to photograph their wedding this summer and excited to see what God has in store for them. It has been quite an adventure for the two of them already and as you can tell, they adore each other.
